“I worked as a trainer in one of the gyms in Bandra, where Shah Rukh Khan happened to drop by one day. We met and I started training him. It has been 18 years now. It has been a pleasure working with him and all the other celebrities who came on board after that.” This is the perfect example of right-place-right time. From a chance meeting with SRK to sculpting Aditya Roy Kapoor’s chiselled body in Fitoor, Prashant Sawant has come a long way. He’s become the need of the hour whenever an actor needs a specific kind of body for a film. To name a few, Sawant has worked with Ajay Devgn, Adnan Sami, Abhishek Bachchan, Varun Dhawan, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Sonal Chauhan.
“Ajay has been training with me for many films and I have been training Varun before he debuted in Bollywood. I have been working with Abhishek for a long time, too. Their priorities differ, of course. Most of them come in for a specific role, where they have a goal and we work towards achieving it — like Aditya Roy Kapoor in Fitoor, which was the latest transformation conducted by me and my team.”
What are the most common myths Bollywood stars tend to believe in about fitness? “The myth that most of the celebrities subscribe to revolves around nutrition. Fortunately, my training has always worked very well with all of them and has given prominent results to everyone. But, when we have to discuss nutrition and food intake, where I have to explain the importance of certain foods and nutrients, it becomes a tad challenging, given their schedules and lifestyle,” Sawant says.
