Maruti Suzuki Baleno Gets HUD; Here Are Some Other Cars With The Feature
Top 5 Cars That Feature A Heads-Up Display

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the only sub-10 lakh rupee car in India to come with the heads-up display feature

A number of teasers later, Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the 2022 Baleno in India. Priced from
Rs 6.35 lakh, the premium hatchback comes packed with features that’d leave behind a number of luxury sedans and SUVs. This includes a segment-first HUD and a 360-degree camera!

For those who are unfamiliar, a heads-up display (HUD) is a translucent readout displayed right above the dashboard and directly in the line of sight of the driver. It shows necessary information such as speed, rpm and more, without having to take your eyes off the road.

This handy feature is mostly seen in luxury offerings and not seen in any sub-Rs 10 lakh offering. Here are some of them:

Kia Seltos (Rs 9.95 lakh to Rs 18.19 lakh)

The Kia Seltos took the auto world by storm when it was introduced in our market. The Korean carmaker packed the SUV with many segment-first features including a head-up display. With the launch of the Baleno, the Kia Seltos is now the second most affordable car in India to come with the nifty feature. However, currently, it’s only offered in the top-spec GTX+ variant that gets the option of a 1.4-litre turbo petrol (140hp/242 Nm) and a 1.5-liter diesel engine (115hp/250 Nm).

Toyota Camry (Ra 41.70 lakh)

The next entry on our list is Toyota’s flagship in India, the Camry. The hybrid received a mid-life update last month with a host of cosmetic changes, with an all-new bumper and upper grille, along with 18-inch alloy wheels.

Additionally, it also gets a floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats and, of course, a heads-up display. Powering it is the same 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine, which makes a combined total of 218PS.

Mini Cooper Countryman (Rs 41 lakh)

Perhaps the best-looking (subjectively) entry on the list, the MINI Cooper Countryman packs everything you can ask for in its signature compact design. This includes a 5.5-inch digital driver’s display, Harman Kardon sound system, on-board navigation, powered front seats, a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof and a heads-up display. Powering it is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes 192hp of power and 280Nm of torque.

BMW X1 (Rs 39.90 lakh to Rs 43.50 lakh)

The last two entries on our list are straight out of Bavaria. The company updated the SUV last year with a new ‘Tech Edition.’ Along with minor cosmetic updates, the X1 now comes with features like a larger 10.25-inch i-Drive infotainment system along with a 205W 7-speaker sound system, a wireless phone charger and a heads-up display. Under the hood, it packs the same 2.0-litre petrol engine, which makes 192PS of power.

BMW 3 Series (Rs 45.50 lakh to Rs 64.90 lakh)

Stepping into luxury sedan territory, the BMW 3 Series is one of the best premium sedans money can buy. Just like the Camry, it too was updated with all the necessary bells and whistles last year. This includes a heads-up display, a 12.3.inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, three-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof and more!

The 3 Series is also the quickest ‘made-in-India’ car in the market. The top-spec M340i xDrive variant comes with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 385hp and 500Nm of torque.
