A Special Prize For This Year’s Winner At The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2016

This year’s winner in the ‘Best of Show’ category at the Concorso d’Eleganza was awarded with a LANGE 1 TIME ZONE ‘Como Edition’.

This year’s winner in the ‘Best of Show‘ category at the Concorso d’Eleganza was awarded with a LANGE 1 TIME ZONE ‘Como Edition‘. The winner, who was the owner of the Maserati A6 GCS, 1954, was presented with a one-of-a-kind timepiece comprising a special engraving.

This special event took place at the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este, where Lange CEO William Schmid praised the winner for devoting his precious time in the preservation of  cultural values. He also stated,“I am convinced that every second which you spend restoring a classic automobile is time wisely invested. This applies all the more when, in the process, you prevent the deterioration of a timelessly beautiful work of art and safeguard it for posterity. For this reason, we are honouring the most exquisite sculpture on wheels with the matching sculpture for the wrist.”

The prestigious vintage car competition was sponsored by A. Lange & Söhne (since 2012) where, this year, about 50 attendees presented their automotive rarities in the estate on Lake Como. The special ‘Como Edition’ model of the LANGE 1 TIME ZONE was conceived explicitly for this occasion and is white-gold,  featuring a hand-engraved cuvette. One of the most special aspects of the timepiece is the fact that the 1929 and 2016 year engravings trace an arc from the first Concorso d’Eleganza to the present. Also, Como represents Central European Time on the rotatable city ring in the dial, as a tribute to the venue.
