Volkswagen has teamed up with eClassics, a Stuttgart-based EV-conversion company, to unveil a gorgeous, retro-classic, all-electric concept based on the T1 Samba Bus. This new model has been dubbed the e-BULLI with the ‘e’ signifying its electric capabilities and ‘BULLI’ paying an ode to the popular nickname for the iconic minivan.
eClassics picked a 1966 T1 Samba Bus that spent almost 50 years being driven around the coast of California. The e-BULLI is powered by a 61kW electric motor, providing twice as much power as the original engine it replaced. It has a top speed of 81 mph or 130 kmph. The battery gives you around 200 kms and can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes.
The price for an e-BULLI starts at $69,500 (aprrox Rs 52.2 lakh). But the chances of it coming to India are slim to none, since we’re still trying to find our footing with electric vehicles let alone electric vans.
