Renault Triber MPV: A Few Things You Should Know
Renault Triber MPV: A Few Things You Should Know

We look at some of the key features on the recently unveiled Renault Triber

The Indian automotive space has been heating up recently with a slew of reveals and launches. Recently, Renault decided to add to the excitement with their newest product – the Triber. The Renault Triber is a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) recently unveiled by the French automakers in India. Undoubtedly, Renault will plan to repeat the kind of success they had with the Duster and Kwid in the country. For that, the Triber will have to come with certain key ingredients to sweeten the pot. Here’s are some points we feel will work in Triber’s favour in India –

1. Sub-4 Metre, 7-Seater MPV –

This isn’t really a new thing with the Datsun Go+ already taking a crack at this sort of configuration. However, given that Renault has already made a name for itself with the Kwid, existing customers looking to make an upgrade from the entry-level hatchback will have a suitable and spacious choice with the Triber.

2. Over 100 Different Seating Configurations –

Renault says that the Triber offers a total of more than 100 different seat-configurations! Basically, the second-row seats can recline, slide, fold and tumble, providing a versatile mix of seat adjustments. The company’s EasyFix third-row seats can be removed and, as per Renault, are easy to handle as well.

3. A 1.0-Litre, Three-Cylinder Engine with Easy R AMT –

Renault has decided to equip the Triber with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine which produces 72 ps of maximum power and 96 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is also used internationally in the Clio and Sandero. It also has the added convenience of a 5-speed Easy R AMT gearbox, similar to that on the Kwid.

4. Ground Clearance –

The Triber’s 182mm of ground clearance should be more than sufficient to tackle bad roads. Since the Triber can seat seven people, the added ground clearance will give that much needed added cushion to the suspension.

5. Infotainment –

The Renault Triber gets an 8-inch touchscreen MediaNav Evolution connected multimedia system which gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

6. Safety –

Since safety has become a major consideration for the Indian buyer, Renault has decided to equip the Triber with 3-point belts in all rows, with those in rows 1 and side seats in row 2 equipped with a retractor. It also will come fitted with 4 airbags – driver, passenger, and front sides.

7. Price –

One of the most important aspects of a car, as far as an Indian buyer is concerned, is price. If Renault is able to price the Triber competitively, it could open up new doors for the French brand in India. Expect the Renault Triber to be priced between Rs 5 – 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
