From a bright red Porsche to a Mercedes, we take a look inside former skipper’s garage

There is perhaps no one who personified the title of “gentleman’s game” more than Rahul Dravid. Arguably one of the best players in his time, the former skipper of the Indian cricket team will be bringing in his 49th birthday today. But did you know that alongside an impressive trophy cabinet, Dravid has quite a collection in his garage too? Let’s take a look.

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S (Rs 1.59 crore)

It is difficult to imagine “The Wall” driving down the streets of Bengaluru in a bright red 911 Carrera, no? And yet the self-proclaimed ‘Indira Nagar ka gunda’ couldn’t resist the charm of the German convertible. I mean, with a 3.8-litre flat-six churning out 400hp of power, who would? With a top speed of 302.5kph and 0 to 100kph in 4.3 seconds, even Dravid can’t be on the back foot at any time.

Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 (Rs 77.82 lakh)

Before you ask, yes. This is the same car which featured in the famous Cred ad we referenced earlier. It is also one of the newest additions to the former skipper’s garage. As you expect from a Merc, the GLE 350 comes with all creature comforts like luxe interiors, 3-zone climate control, voice command, keyless entry and more.

Unfortunately, Mercedes discontinued the GLE 350 in 2020. While it was on sale, the German manufacturer came in three different variants—the base, with a 2.1-litre diesel engine and 3.0-litre V6 petrol and a diesel unit.

Audi Q5 (Rs 59.22 lakh)

Our birthday boy seems to have a thing for German cars. The next entry is the iconic Audi Q5. While the exact model Dravid owns is no longer in production, Audi did update the Q5 with a facelift.

The German SUV comes with a whole host of features such as 30-colour ambient lighting, 180W 10-speaker sound system and a panoramic sunroof to name a few. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 245hp of power.

Hyundai Tucson (Rs 22.69 lakh)

The Hyundai Tucson was awarded to Dravid back in 2004 for winning the ‘Man of the Match’ award against Pakistan. The Tucson comes with 2.0-litre Dual VTVT petrol and 2.0-litre 2.0-litre e-VGT diesel engines, which makes 152hp of power and 185hp of power, respectively.

Toyota Innova Crysta (Rs 17.30 lakh)

If there was a car that would personify Dravid’s personality, it’d be the Toyota Innova. It is practical and of course, dependable. No wonder then he’s been spotted driving the MPV many times.

Toyota gave the Crysta a minor facelift recently. The MPV now comes with all-new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless entry and more. Powering it is the same 2.4-litre diesel engine and a 2.7-litre petrol engine, which makes 150hp of power and 166hp of power, respectively.
