While there is an avalanche of SUVs in India, both ICE and EVs, sedans have taken a back seat lately. With crossovers and SUV-looking hatchbacks dominating what's left of the non-SUV market, the popularity of sedans only began to rise after the launch of the Skoda Slavia in 2021. Recently, BYD has attempted to revive the segment with its all-new Seal EV. That said, let's take a look at some other Sedan EVs in India that you can buy.
BYD Seal
BYD's latest electric sedan, the "Seal," enters the Indian market at Rs 41 lakh, offering three powertrain options - Dynamic Range, Premium Range, and Performance. Notable features include an 82.5 kWh battery with a reported range of 650 km and a dual-motor performance variant achieving 0-100 kmph in under 3.8 seconds.
Loaded with technology, it boasts a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, panoramic glass roof, DynaAudio sound system, heated ORVMs, heated/ventilated front seats, and heads-up display.
Kia EV6
The EV6 also comes with a choice of two powertrain options, however, both get the same 77.4kWh battery pack. The rear-wheel-drive version with a single electric motor makes 229PS and 350Nm, while the all-wheel-drive version features dual electric motors producing 325PS and 605Nm.
With a WLTP claimed range of 528km for rear-wheel drive and 505km for all-wheel drive, the EV6 also comes with an integrated 12-inch instrument cluster, 12-inch infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, ventilated and powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof and more.
Mercedes AMG EQS 53
As appears to be the theme of the list, Mercedes offers the electric sedan in two trims - AMG 53 4Matic+ and EQS 580 4Matic, both equipped with a dual electric motor setup and a 107.8kWh battery pack supporting up to 200kW charging.
The EQS 580 4Matic churns out 523PS/855Nm with a WLTP-claimed range of 857km. While the AMG-spec variant, featuring the Dynamic Plus pack delivers 761PS/1020Nm with a claimed range of 586km and a 0-100kmph sprint time of 3.4 seconds. The EQS sedan boasts a 3-screen MBUX Hyperscreen unit, Burmester 3D sound system, heads-up display, rear axle steering, and ambient lighting.
BMW i7
The i7 comes equipped with dual electric motors generating 544PS and 745Nm, paired with a 101.7kWh battery pack offering a WLTP-certified range of 625km. It shares features with its ICE counterparts, including a new 31.3-inch 8K touchscreen display for rear passengers, ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch curved digital driver's display, a 14.9-inch infotainment system, and powered front and rear seats with a massage function. Additionally, it also boasts of Level 3 Autonomous driving technology.
Audi RS e-Tron GT
The Audi e-tron GT gets two electric motors paired with a 93.4kWh battery pack, delivering 530PS/640Nm. When it comes to range, the Audi sedan can go up to 500km on a single charge. While topping-up from 5-80 per cent can be done in 23 minutes, via a fast charger.
Feature-wise, the e-tron GT gets a 10.1-inch MMI touch infotainment system, Bang and Olufsen sound system, connected car tech, adaptive cruise assist, voice control, tri-zone climate control, panoramic glass roof, and powered front seats.
