A dozen teasers later, Okinawa has launched the Okhi90, its top-of-the-shelf e-scooter in India. The flagship scooter has been priced at Rs 1.21 lakh (ex-showroom). However, with state and Fame II subsidies, the Okinawa Okhi90 can be availed for as low as Rs 1.03 lakh (ex-showroom).
In terms of design, the Okhi90 takes on a minimalistic approach with its smooth and clean lines. At the front, it gets sleek LED headlamps, along with DRLs. The back gets a clean LED tail-light setup. The Okhi90 sits on 16-inch wheels, which is the biggest in the segment.
Powering the e-scooter is a detachable 72V 50Ah li-ion battery pack which runs the 3.8kW motor. Okinawa claims a range of 160km on a full charge, the highest in its segment. The company also claims a top speed of 90kph, which would make it the fastest e-scooter in its segment.
The feature list on the Okinawa Okhi90 is quite comprehensive, and it gets a fully digital instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, keyless start, geo-fencing and more. As it is with most of the e-scooters, it comes with two different ride modes: Eco and Power. Then there’s the 40-litre under-seat storage, which is again the highest in the segment.
There’s a lot to like about the Okinawa e-scooter on paper but will it come through in the real world? We’ll find out in our detailed review.
