The MG Hector was one of the first SUVs that rode heavily on its smart features. MG unveiled its path-breaking new all-electric SUV and it takes Connectivity to the next level. First the highlights, the ZS EV promises a range of 340 km for each charge. A typical charging cycle (at home or work on the 7.4KW charger that’s bundled with every car) should take around six to eight hours. The car’s electric drive system designed in association with UAES (a Bosch subsidiary) goes from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds flat. We took a close look at car during its India launch in Delhi today and were impressed with the design and cabin. But it’s the smart features that set this apart. Aside from a Companion App that all owners have access to, here are some of the highlights:

Hardware powerhouse: MG showcased the next gen integrated i-SMART platform – the next-gen i-SMART EV 2.0 with a slick interface. The new interface is powered by an all-new 6-core processor that provides a seamless user experience.

5G Ready: i-SMART EV 2.0 features an embedded machine to machine (M2M) eSIM. This platform is both 5G and IPV6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) ready. It’s based on Cisco’s Jasper platform with Airtel as the telecom partner. In a segment first, the system can also hook up with an external Wi-Fi Connection, allowing users to connect to home networks or mobile hotspots adding to its ‘connected’ credentials and also ensuring faster speeds for the infotainment system.

Help is at hand: MG outlined a five-point strategy to provide charging solutions for ZS EV owners that also included a network of charging stations. The car features embedded maps and navigation solutions from TomTom that can help you locate nearby charging stations with details about the type of charger and connector.

Music from the cloud: you don’t have to worry about saving your playlist, the i-SMART EV 2.0 comes with a premium Gaana account for all your favourite music. You can also check out the pre-loaded AccuWeather App for all the latest weather updates.

Your own in-car voice assistant: The ZS EV becomes the first car with its own in-car intelligent voice assistant with over 100 voice commands. This AI-based Voice Assistant can perform multiple tasks like opening the sunroof or finding you the nearest charging station based on your voice commands.
