Rumours of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV launch have been doing the rounds on the internet for a while now. The company has announced that it’ll be pulling the wraps off the EQS SUV on April 19th, 2022. Ahead of the reveal, the German carmaker has finally given us a sneak peek of the EV, and let’s just say we’re in for a treat.
While the camouflaged images restrict us from making out the intricate details of the EQS SUV, the design silhouette appears to indicate a rather lengthier and lower appearance. This should translate to more generous space at the back.
But don’t expect it to be an expert off-roader. While the EQS 4Matic SUV will boast of some off-roading features, its primary focus will be on luxury and comfort. According to a senior automotive journalist, Greg Kable, Mercedes plans on bringing a more hardcore electric version of the G-class, called the EQG, with individual e-motors on each wheel. The only caveat is we may have to wait until 2024 to see it.
Speaking of Mercedes-Benz EQS, it will have seven seats with some of the comfort features from the recently launched Maybach S-Class making its way here. This includes the two all-digital screens at the back. At the front, it’ll come with a multi-screen layout, similar to the MBUX Hyperscreen. And yes, the EQS will also come with a full-panoramic sunroof, which extends all the way back to the rear seats.
Just like its sedan counterpart, the EQS 4Matic SUV will likely be offered in two different variants: a 334hp RWD and a 523hp AWD options. Both models are expected to deliver a healthy range of 700km, with fast-charging capabilities of 80 percent coming up in under 35 minutes.
Mercedes-Benz will be unveiling the EQS SUV next month, with a launch scheduled early next year, after the locally-built EQS sedan makes its way to the showrooms. Stay tuned.
