Mercedes-Benz G-Class Electric

Retaining the familiar boxy silhouette, it features modern touches like a closed-off grille for improved aerodynamics and an optional square storage box replacing the tailgate-mounted spare. Inside, the cabin mirrors, the luxury and rugged charm of its petrol sibling offering dual 12.3-inch digital displays for infotainment and driver information. Under the hood, this 3-ton SUV packs a quad-motor powertrain delivering 579PS and a massive 1,164 Nm of torque. Paired with a 116 kWh battery, it promises a range of 473 km and a 0-100kmph sprint in under 5 seconds.
Mahindra XUV.e8
Expected Launch: December 2024
Mahindra’s first entry in its ‘Born Electric’ series, the XUV.e8, is set to build on the success of the XUV700 but with a twist. It’s built on a dedicated EV platform, featuring a split headlamp design and a full-width LED light bar at the front for a futuristic look. The grille is blanked out, hinting at its electric nature, while test models suggest the SUV will retain some of the XUV700’s side and rear styling cues. Initially, the XUV.e8 will be available as a rear-wheel-drive model with a 228PS electric motor sourced from Valeo, delivering 380 Nm of torque. A more powerful 345PS variant with enhanced performance is also being developed. Maruti Suzuki EVX
Expected Launch: Early 2025
The EVX marks Maruti Suzuki’s long-awaited entry into the electric market, with its global debut scheduled at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025. The SUV, previewed by the EVX concept, is set to become the brand’s flagship EV, catering to both domestic and foriegn markets. Measuring approximately 4.3 m in length, 1.8 m in width, and 1.6 m in height, the EVX is built on a dedicated EV platform, making it a spacious and efficient choice. The concept features a 60 kWh battery pack, offering up to 550 km of range on a single charge. Designed to meet the needs of Indian buyers, the EVX is a strategic move by Maruti to capture the EV market. Leveraging its local manufacturing capabilities to offer a competitively priced, high-range electric SUV.
Hyundai Creta EV
Expected Launch: January 2025

The Creta EV will be Hyundai’s first electric model tailored specifically for the Indian market, and it’s scheduled to hit showrooms in early 2025. Spotted undergoing tests for over a year, this EV will take on established competitors like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and upcoming models such as the Maruti Suzuki EVX. The Creta EV is expected to feature a 45 kWh battery, similar to the base Kona EV, delivering around 450 km of range. With 138PS and 255 Nm of torque, it offers enough punch for city and highway drives. The SUV’s price positioning and features will be key as it aims to become the go-to choice in the mid-size electric SUV segment, building on the popularity of the petrol and diesel variants of the Creta.
Hyundai Inster EV
Expected Launch: Mid 2025
Following the Creta EV, Hyundai’s next offering might be the Inster EV, an electric adaptation of the popular Casper micro SUV. Based on Hyundai’s E-GMP (K) platform, the Inster will be positioned as a budget-friendly city EV. Competing directly with the Tata Punch EV, the Inster measures 3,825 mm in length and 1,610 mm in width, it offers a generous 2,580 mm wheelbase, making it slightly larger than its combustion-engine counterpart. It promises to be a nimble and practical option for urban commutes. The EV’s pricing strategy could make it one of the most affordable electric options in India, appealing to first-time EV buyers and those looking for a compact city car with electric efficiency.
Skoda Enyaq
Expected Launch: Q4 FY2025
Skoda’s flagship electric SUV, the Enyaq, is finally making its way to India after extensive testing and an official showcase at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024. Known for its sleek and muscular design, the Enyaq sports Skoda’s signature grille and crisp body lines, along with a tech-forward cabin featuring a large central touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Internationally, the Enyaq is available in various configurations, including single and dual-motor options, as well as a performance-focused RS variant. Volvo EX90
Expected Launch: Q4 FY2025
Volvo’s luxury electric flagship, the EX90, is set to enter the Indian market in late FY2025, following delays in global production. Built on a dedicated EV platform, it offers up to 509PS and 910 Nm of torque from its dual-motor setup. The 111 kWh battery provides a solid 482 km range, and the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 4.7 seconds. With Volvo’s promise of at least one EV launch per year in India, the EX90 is a significant step in their electric lineup, bringing Scandinavian design and cutting-edge technology to the Indian luxury EV market. Pricing is expected to be announced closer to launch, with deliveries likely starting soon after.
Tata Harrier EV
Expected Launch: Q4 FY2025
Tata is charging ahead in the Indian EV scene and despite a recent dip in sales they're not hitting the brakes. The Punch EV, Nexon EV, and Curvv EV will soon welcome the Harrier EV, slated for release in the last quarter of this financial year. Revealed during Tata's investor day presentation, Tata Harrier EV much like its Nexon and Curvv counterparts will retain several design elements from the internal combustion model, with noticeable tweaks like a blanked-out grille and fresh wheel designs. However, the Harrier EV goes a step further by offering both two- and all-wheel-drive options, boasting an impressive range of nearly 500 km.
