Ducati sold more than 53,000 superbikes in 2018

2018 was the year Ducati unleashed a barrage of motorcycles that proved to be tough competition for other manufacturers and it seems like it’s all paid off really well for Ducati.

More than 53,000 Ducati motorcycles were sold around the world by the company in 2018. They have managed to still maintain their 50,000 plus sales for four years now. A major chunk of that figure comes from the sales of the Panigale, which significantly contributed to making Ducati the leader of the superbike segment for the very first time. In 2018, one superbike out of every four sold worldwide was a Ducati Panigale.

The Multistrada has always proved to be a lucrative superbike family for the Italian manufacturer, but the release of the Multistrada 1260, gave a boost of 25% (compared to 2017) in sales for Ducati.

In a statement, Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding said, “While 2018 was challenging for the big motorcycles market, with slowdowns in important countries like the US, Ducati had, by the end of the year, delivered over 53,000 bikes to customers worldwide, consolidating the growth achieved in recent years.”

He added how Ducati wasn’t solely successful in sales, but also saw numerous wins in the racing department. “In 2018 we achieved stability and the year was positive both in terms of business and racing. We won numerous MotoGP races and developed an exceptional bike. In short, the solidity of the company remains undisputed, as does our penchant for driving ahead with innovation and product development so we can, over the coming years, continue offering customers new icons of style and technology.”

2018 proved to be nothing short of amazing for Ducati, but it’ll be interesting to see what Ducati has in store for 2019, especially for the Indian market. The company recently announced their first-ever Ducati India Race Cup which will take place in October 2019 at the Buddh International Circuit and will see Panigale and SuperSport owners go head-to-head on the racetrack.
