BMW India has just launched the new M4 Competition today, priced at Rs 1.44 crore (ex-showroom). The carmaker has brought to India the top-spec Competition guise, with a petrol engine, as a completely built-up unit (CBU). Let’s find out more about the new BMW M4 Competition:

Design and Exteriors

The German manufacturer has given the M4 Competition a striking design and what stands out is the large vertical kidney grille with horizontal louvres that dominates the face. On either side of the grille are adaptive LED headlamps with laser lights.

Look at the BMW M4 Competition from the side and you’ll see how the sloping coupe roofline adds to the sporty look of the car. The M4 Competition sits on wheel arches that use blacked-out 19/20-inch forged alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, the bumper gets a sharp design, a boot-mounted spoiler and round tailpipes finished in black chrome. With a wheelbase of 2,857mm, the new M4 is longer than its predecessor.

Colour options include Skyscraper Grey, Portimao Blue, Black Sapphire, Sao Paulo Yellow, Toronto Red and Alpine White. BMW India is offering optional metallic paint finish options like Tanzanite Blue, Dravitgrey, Aventurine Red, Frozen Brilliant White and Frozen Portimao Blue.

Interiors

On the inside, the driver-focused cabin gets a number of M touches like electrically adjustable M sport seats and seatbelts, an M sport steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster and infotainment system with dedicated graphics and functions.

In terms of features, the M4 Competition runs a long list. You get features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument screen, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a 3-zone automatic climate control, powered front seats with heating and lumbar support, automatic anti-dazzle function for all mirrors, and ambient lighting.

To keep the weight low, BMW has made use of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) for the sunroof.

The interior follows an all-black theme and gets Merino leather, but buyers can customize their car using the upholstery and trim options available as optional extras. Adaptive M suspension, M Sport differential and M compound brakes are also part of the BMW M4.

Safety is taken care of by 6 airbags, ABS, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC).

Engine and Transmission

BMW’s M4 Competition makes use of a new 3.0-litre straight-six engine that gets the latest M TwinPower Turbo technology. Power output is at 510hp and torque is at 650Nm, while 0-100kph is achieved in 3.5 seconds. The engine is mated to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
