A 769-horsepower Ferrari is here

Because why not?

“Hmm, we think there’s more than enough power in this car’s engine”, said no supercar manufacturer ever; nobody in that league is going to rest on their laurels when it comes to the horsepower stakes, least of all a legendary badge like Ferrari. In this spirit, say hello to the Ferrari F12 TdF (short for ‘Tour de France’).

Apart from the iconic cycle race, the Tour de France used to be an automotive endurance race in the 1950s and ’60s, one which Ferrari won quite a lot. This car celebrates that now-defunct event by taking the already formidable 12-cylinder Ferrari F12 and giving it a power bump and some other upgrades. The F12’s enormous 6.3-litre V12 engine has been tuned to produce 769 hp, up from 730 hp, and its 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is now even quicker than in the standard F12. Plenty of weight has been shed, too – the TdF weighs in at 1520 kg, a whopping 113 kg less than the standard car. All this means that the TdF can go from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 340 kph; aerodynamic embellishments on the body greatly aid this tomfoolery. No price has been announced, but expect one of these puppies to cost in the region of Rs 6 crore – if you’re able to snag one, that is; production will be limited to 799 units and you’ll need an invite to buy one.
