5 Biggest Luxury Car Launches Of The Week

From Rolls-Royce to Bentley, the month of May has seen some high-octane action so far

It’s been a surgically precise summer for supercars this month, with many luxury carmakers unveiling their latest and greatest. From the ultra-limited Bentley Bacalar Convertible to the updated Rolls-Royce Cullinan, here’s the low-down on the five best super-luxe cars of the week.

 

Bentley Batur Convertible

Starting with the latest, Bentley unveiled the Batur convertible yesterday, which is been called the marquee’s most expensive car to date. Limited to just 16 units, the Batur drop-top comes from the company’s bespoke coachbuilding lineup. Apart from the insane level of customisation, the Coupe gets a  6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine which makes 750PS and 1,000Nm of torque, propelling it from 0-100kmph in just 3.4 seconds.

BMW has expanded its Competition Sport lineup with the addition of the powerful M4 CS. Now featuring enhanced power, reduced weight, and a revised chassis, the M4 CS now gets an upgraded twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six engine, which churns out 550PS and 650Nm of torque. This helps it in sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 3.5 seconds. While BMW does sell the last-gen model in India, it remains to be seen if the 2024 trim will make it to our shores. 

 

Updated Land Rover Defender

Land Rover has refreshed its Defender lineup globally, adding a luxurious three-row version, a more powerful diesel engine, and a three-cylinder plug-in hybrid. These updates comply with Euro 6e emissions standards. Cabin upgrades include captain chairs for the three-row Defender 130. Internationally, the Defender now comes in simplified trim options: S, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE, X, and V8 variants, available in 90, 110, and 130 body styles. 

 

Rolls Royce Cullinan

Rolls-Royce has updated the Cullinan SUV with new styling, an enhanced interior, updated technology, and extensive personalization options. Notable changes include restyled LED daytime running lights, a redesigned grille, and a full-width glass panel dashboard with an illuminated cityscape motif. The infotainment system now includes Rolls-Royce's Whispers app for enhanced connectivity. Additional customization options include new paint and material choices. Under the hood, the Cullinan retains its 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, producing 571PS in the standard version and 600PS in the Black Badge variant.

 

New Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet

In other news, Mercedes has unveiled the AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet, featuring a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six engine with a mild-hybrid system, delivering 449hp and 560Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100kph in 4.4 seconds and boasts various performance upgrades including rear-wheel steering, twin-chamber dampers, and larger brakes. Optional features include a drift mode and an adjustable touchscreen display.
