Kawasaki India recently launched the inline four-cylinder Ninja ZX-4RR at Rs 9.10 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it the most expensive 400cc offering in the country but for a good reason. Unlike other sub-500cc motorcycles available here, the ZX-4RR is a true supersport. It features a 399cc, inline-four cylinder engine that produces 77PS of power and 39Nm of torque, making it India's most powerful 400cc offering. Kawasaki claims the power output can be pushed to 80PS with a RAM air intake. Keeping that in mind, here are four other supersports offered in India across different price ranges.
Aprilia RS 457
On the heels of the inaugural India GP, Aprilia launched its first locally-made product, the Aprilia RS 457. Modelled after its bigger sibling, the RS 660, this supersport features an all-new 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine that produces 47.6PS of power, while weighing just 175kg.
Triumph Daytona 660
The Triumph Daytona has been a legend among motorcyclists in India. However, the latest-generation model, expected to debut soon, has faced criticism. The new model shares the same platform and engine as the Tiger Sport 660 and Trident 660. This 660cc liquid-cooled inline 3-cylinder engine produces 95PS and 69Nm of torque, though not at the rev band most would expect. Regardless, the Daytona 660 is expected to launch in India in the next few months.
KTM RC 390
The KTM RC 390 might be the most accessible supersport you can buy in India right now, with a sticker price of Rs 3.18 lakh (ex-showroom). Over the years, the RC series has served as a stepping stone for professional racers to hone their skills. As a result, it comes with a high-revving 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that produces 43.5PS and 37Nm. An updated version of the motorcycle is expected to arrive later this year with a host of updates, including the new 399cc motor from the third-gen Duke.
Ducati SuperSport 950
Another Italian on the list, the Ducati SuperSport, has been quietly doing well in its segment since its launch a couple of years ago and is priced at Rs 16.05 lakh (ex-showroom). The SuperSport 950 features a 937cc Testastretta L-twin motor that produces 110PS and 93Nm of torque.
