After updating the Baleno this year, Maruti Suzuki India has turned its attention to its sub-4 metre SUV, the Vitara Brezza. Today, the company has launched the updated version of the Brezza starting at Rs 7.99 lakh and going all the way up to Rs 13.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Apart from dropping the ‘Vitara’ name from its moniker, the SUV also gets a host of changes in terms of design, equipment and powertrain. 

Starting with the design, the 2022 Brezza follows the current trend of keeping things minimalistic, the front grille has been revised, neatly flanked by sleeker-looking LED projector headlights. Move to the side and you’ll notice a fresh set of alloys, which look rather neat. Apart from this, the Brezza now gets six monotone colours – Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Magma Grey, Sizzling Red, Exuberant Blue and Brave Khaki. 

Step inside and you’ll notice that the Brezza has a lot in common with the updated Baleno. This includes the black and silver interiors, with a 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment centre, new dials and AC vents. Feature-wise, the sub-4 metre SUV gets wireless phone charging capability, ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof and of course, the head-up display along with the 360-degree camera seen on the new Baleno. 

Under the hood, the 2022 Brezza packs an updated 1.5-litre petrol engine, which makes 103PS of power. Replacing the old 4-speed gearbox is now either a 5-speed manual transmission or a new 6-speed torque converter. Oh did we mention it comes with paddle shifters in one of its variants?

Just like the last-gen model, the 2022 Brezza will be offered in a plethora of variants. This includes the LXI, VXI, ZXI and the ZXI+ trims. Post-launch it’ll now compete against the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
