Dilwale: 147 CroreBollywood romantic action-comedy Dilwale, directed by Rohit Shetty, was released in 2015. Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, and Kriti Sanon play  lead roles in the film. The story revolves around Raj and Meera, who fall in love but are torn apart by circumstances.

Judwaa 2: 137 CroreBollywood action-comedy Judwaa 2 was produced in 2017 and directed by David Dhawan. It is a remake of David Dhawan's iconic 1997 hit Judwaa. Varun Dhawan plays two characters in the film, which also features Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu in the lead.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania: 116 CroreShashank Khaitan's 2017 romantic comedy Badrinath Ki Dulhania is pegged a commercial success. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt were paired opposite each other in the film. As far as the narrative goes, the protagonist is a Jhansi-born Badrinath Bansal (Dhawan) who develops feelings for Kota-born Vaidehi Trivedi (Bhatt), an independent new-age woman.

ABCD 2: 106 CroreBollywood dance drama ABCD 2 was helmed by Remo D'Souza and released in 2015. Prabhu Deva, Lauren Gottlieb, and Raghav Juyal play supporting roles in the film, which also stars Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the key roles. The movie is a follow-up to ABCD: Any Body Can Dance from 2013.
