Rohit Sharma has become the most consistent batter of the Indian Test team. He has scored runs in all conditions while the likes of Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara are still going through a lean patch.

Rohit Sharma became the first captain to score a century across all three formats of the game, when he reached the triple-figure mark against Australia in the first Test.

Rohit has largely been comfortable against spinners on a tricky pitch. Virat Kohli, meanwhile, is still to score a half-century in the series.

While Kohli's run-scoring ability took a massive hit in 2019, Sharma has gone from strength to strength, playing numerous memorable innings in this period.

Since 2019, Sharma has been averaging close to 60 in Test, and has scored six centuries. Kohli's last century in Test came against Bangladesh in 2019.

All these numbers say that Rohit Sharma is currently the best batter in the team, a position that Kohli held for a long before losing it during the pandemic.

As India take on Australia in the fourth match at Narendra Modi Stadium, Kohli and Rohit's form will be crucial for the hosts to win the series.
