France will be aiming to become the third team in history, after Brazil and Italy, to successfully defend the World Cup title, when they take on Argentina in the final, on Sunday. Many records have tumbled, including the record for France's leading goal-scorer. We take a look at five players to score most goals for France.

#5 Karim Benzema 37 GoalsIt's quite surprising to see Karim Benzema in the list, given he had to endure a long exile from the national team because of his involvement in a sex-tape scandal. Benzema made his debut in 37 and his seven-year-hiatus ended only last year when he was called for the Euro.

#4 Michel Platini 41 GoalsMichel Platini scored 41 goals for France between 1976 to 1987. He is also the first player to win Ballon d'Or three times in a row, and reached the semi-finals of 1982 and 1986 World Cups, but could never win the title.

#3 Antoine Griezmann 42 GoalsAntoine Griezmann isn't an out-and-out striker when he plays for France, but that doesn't stop him from constantly inking his name on the scoresheet. He has been the key player for France in this World Cup.
