Kawasaki India has launched the 2023 iteration of the Z900RS today for a whopping Rs 16.47 lakh (ex-showroom).

For perspective, this makes the RS more expensive than the more powerful Ninja ZX-10R, which starts at Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This is due to the fact that the Z900RS will be bought to our shores via CBU and hence will extract higher taxes.

Right, so what’s new? For starters, it continues to sport the same neo-retro design as the older model but two new additional colours -  Metallic Diablo Black/Metallic Imperial Red and Candy Tone Blue.

Power here still comes from the same 948cc, inline-four engine sourced from the Z900, but makes 14PS less at 112PS of power and 98.5Nm of torque.

Feature-wise, it continues to sport the same necessities such as Kawasaki’s traction control (KTRC), an assist and slipper clutch and all-LED lighting.

The only difference here comes in the form of the tweaked subframe, which now accommodates the new single-piece seat. Even the fuel capacity has remained the same at 17 litres.

Despite its higher-than-usual pricing, the Z900 RS primarily competes against the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 (Rs 11.09 lakh ex-showroom).
