Breitling Brings Back the Navitimer To Celebrate Its 70th Anniversary

A beloved pilot’s watch by aviators and watch lovers, the iconic Brietling Navitimer returns to the limelight offering a slew of new dial colours, case sizes and materials.

2022 marks the 70th anniversary of Breitling’s most iconic chronograph – the Navitimer. Breitling celebrates this momentous occasion with the unveiling of its newest edition of the Navitimer watch in bold dial colours and different case sizes. Each of the new pieces capture the original’s most classic features while enhancing it with a multitude of modern elements too.

“We don’t throw the term ‘icon’ around lightly,” says Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. “The Navitimer is one of the most recognizable watches ever made. It’s on collectors’ lists of the greatest watches of all time. What began as a tool for pilots has gone on to mean something profound to every single person who has had this timepiece along on their personal journey.”

Details of the new Navitimer watches:

The year was 1952 when Willy Breitling developed a wrist-worn chronograph featuring a circular slide rule that allowed pilots to perform all the necessary flight calculations. Since then, the “Navigation Timer” or Navitimer has been an important part of not just the cockpit but also outside amongst celebrities and regular consumers alike.

To develop the new Navitimer watches, Breitling ensured to preserve the most recognisable aspects of the iconic design. The new editions features the classic elements like the circular slide rule, baton indexes, trio of chronograph counters, a notched bezel for easy grip and a return of the AOPA wings to their original position at 12 o’ clock. The modern additions include a flattened slide rule, a domed crystal and alternate finishes on the case metal.

The new Breitling Navitimer is available in a range of sizes (46,43, and 41mm) and two case materials (stainless steel or 18 karat red gold) and a choice of straps (semi-shiny alligator or seven-row metal bracelet). The dial of the 2022 editions comes in a slew of modern colours that includes shades of blue, green and copper. Sitting within the watches is Breitling COSC-certified Caliber 01 that offers 70 hours of power reserve.
