Rafael Nadal won his 21st Gram Slam title at the 2022 Australian Open Men’s Final by defeating Daniil Medvedev. With this incredible achievement, Nadal breaks the tie with his other great contemporaries like Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
Nadal’s Wristgame:
Nadal is one of the few players who wears a watch during the game. He is often seen wearing Richard Mille—a brand he has been associated with for a long time. So it comes as no surprise that for the 2022 Australian Open Men’s Final, Rafa chose the latest Richard Mille, named RM 27-04—a model that was developed explicitly for him. The Richard Mille RM 27-04 Tourbillon Rafael Nada is instantly recognizable by its blue strap and orange crown.
About the Watch:
During the term of this long-standing friendship, the Swiss watchmaker has issued several timepieces in honour of the Spanish pro-tennis player. The 2020 RM 27-04 commemorates the 10th anniversary of this partnership.
One of the most supreme aspects of this watch is its lightness. This has been achieved with the help of Richard Mille’s brand-new exclusive material, TitaCarb. Made with high-performance polyamide that can be reinforced with up to 38.5 percent carbon fibre, the TitaCarb stands out thanks to its high strength and resistance against all elements. The watch weighs at a mere 30gm, including the strap, and ensure high comfort when Nadal hits the clay. The overall size of the tonneau-shaped case measures 38.4mm across, 47.25mm tip to toe, and 11.4mm thick.
The skeletonized dial in a weave of steel cable supports the manual-winding tourbillon movement Calibre RM27-04 beating within. Limited to just 50 pieces, the RM 27-04 is an incredible piece of horology available in a distinctive blue textile strap.
