BLANCPAIN FIFTY FATHOMS BATHYSCAPHE IN SEDNA GOLD

For the first time, this 2013 watch that was launched to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms, combines a blue dial with a 43 mm case in Sedna gold. Sedna is a gold, copper, and palladium alloy that guarantees the durability of red gold. The unidirectional rotating bezel is fitted with a ceramic insert, and features a Ceragold® time scale and hour-markers. Water-resistant to 300 meters, the watch is powered by self-winding 1315 movement, with a five-day power reserve.

JAQUET DROZ “FLEUR DE LYS” GRANDE SECONDE PAILLONNÉE

Part of two new very limited series, this watch immortalises the art of paillonné enameling, an ancient decorative technique that showcases floral motifs. Created at the Jaquet Droz Ateliers d’Art, its silver opaline dial features the lily flower, as the name indicates. Paillonné enameling starts with guilloché work on a gold dial. It is then covered in translucent coloured enamel that lets the guilloché patterns shine through. Next, several layers of enamel are applied, each one individually fired in the oven. In the next phase, dainty motifs cut from a thin gold leaf (the paillons or strips) are placed by hand, one by one, to create a figure. The figures are then covered with another layer of enamel, and fired in the same oven. This translucent coat will protect the paillonné motif for centuries. The watch with the distinctive off-centred hours and minutes at 12 o’clock, and a large off-centred second at 6 o’clock, comes in a 43 mm, red-gold case, and is powered by an automatic movement with a power reserve of 68 hours. The chronograph line that was originally launched in 2016, has been extended this year with two new blue versions. The 43 mm diameter stainless steel case frames the blue dial, which features a chronograph counter, small seconds sub-dial, date display, central hour, and minute hands. The flyback mechanism allows the timer of the chronograph to be reset and restarted with just a single push. Powered by the CFB 1970 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve

The iconic Zenith skeleton watch has just been launched with three new scratch-proof ceramic case variations. The all-blue faceted 41 mm case and bezel, with polished and satin-brushed surfaces, encloses a blue open, star-shaped dial, with a date display at 6 o’clock. It provides a monochromatic cast to the timepiece. Powered by the automatic Elite 670 SK movement with a power reserve of 48 hours.

Frederique Constant’s fourth smartwatch in five years comes with an integrated sensor, developed by Philips Wearable Sensing, which measures the heart rate from the wrist. The watch that comes in a 42 mm stainless-steel case features — for the first time — a dial with two faces. The first face is characterised by Roman numerals, and hand-polished hour and minute hands. A press of the crown reveals the second face, with a digital display on its lower part that allows the user to access information like the heart rate, the activity tracker, a second time zone, and the last five messages from chosen apps.

MONTBLANC 1858 SPLIT SECOND CHRONOGRAPH LIMITED EDITION 100

The sporty vintage style watches in the Montblanc 1858 line are inspired by the trend of reconnecting to nature, and the Montblanc heritage. The 2020 version features a blue theme, as a nod to glaciers and snowy mountain environments. This watch is a reinterpretation of the 44 mm historical Minerva military mono-pusher chronograph from the 1930s, with a very distinctive dial comprising a snail-shaped tachymeter scale in the centre, and a telemeter scale on the internal flange. Tag Heuer has provided the new Aquaracer with a tortoiseshell effect on the bezel, using an innovative resin technique. The dark and light blue hues are reminiscent of the ocean’s surface — as seen from the deck of a yacht — an effect that is enhanced by the blue sunray brushed dial with horizontal lines. The unidirectional rotating bezel comes with a 60-minute scale, while an angled magnifying lens covers the date window at 3 o’clock. The 43 mm case is in brushed stainless steel. TISSOT SEASTAR 1000 QUARTZ CHRONO

This chronograph, in a 45.5 mm steel case with an aluminium rotating bezel, is powered by a quartz movement. It is water resistant to 300 metres. Minutes until 20 are marked on the face, after which it is marked every five minutes, in a scale that is typical and helpful for divers. A subtle sea horse is engraved on the back case, hinting at underwater adventures. The dial is in deep blue.
