Back in 1907, Swiss watchmaking giant Tissot — already past its fiftieth anniversary — established their legendary factory at Le Loche, Switzerland. The facility, which still stands today, is found on Le Chemin des Tourelles, and nearly 116 years onwards, has served as the inspiration for the marque’s latest evergreen collection.
The 2023 rendition of this chic-classic design features subtle improvements that draw upon the brand’s enduring reputation for elegance, practical luxury and sheer watchmaking prowess. The first big change comes in the form of a new Powermatic 80 movement with the Swatch Group’s Nivachron™ balance spring, giving the Chemin des Tourelles an 80-hour power reserve, as well as shock, temperature and magnetic field resistance.
A generous sapphire crystal dome enhances the timepiece’s durability, while providing a clear, non-reflective view of the dial’s minute detailing. The dial itself, also domed, catches incoming light with a classic soft sunray finish, while the sandblasted and polished hands offer a bold, confident and easy-to-read quality to each watch face. This brings us to the Chemin des Tourelles collection’s next achievement — an astonishing variety of case sizes, strap colours, and dials to suit the tastes of Tissot’s diverse global customer base.
For starters, the Chemin des Tourelles watches come in 34 mm, 39 mm and 42 mm case sizes, catering to those who prefer a larger presence on their wrists and are available in all-steel, rose gold PVD or a steel and rose gold PVD bi-colour finish. Customers can choose between two dial styles — batons or Roman numerals — which on closer inspection, gently follow the dial’s own curvature, adding depth and a choice between the former’s uncluttered appeal or the latter’s classic Clous de Paris dial ring motif. The interchangeable quick-release straps come in a variety of colourful leather and metal finishes, allowing a workday classic to instantly transform into the perfect dress watch with minimal effort.
Widely considered as one of the most unbeatable timepieces in its segment, the Chemin des Tourelles Collection offers a look at Tissot’s classic heritage in an all-new form — one that continues to evolve into the modern era of watchmaking.
