Swiss luxury brand TAG Heuer has announced the signing of Australian actor Jacob Elordi as a brand ambassador who will represent the TAG Heuer Monaco. The brand also announced the release of the brand-new Monaco watch. The 24-year-old Euphoria actor is touted as one of the stand-out talents of his generation. He was spotted sporting a TAG Heuer Monaco with a black dial, white sub-dials and black alligator strap while presenting at the Academy Awards ceremony this year.
“I’ve always been drawn to things that are both classic and timeless so partnering with TAG Heuer was perfect for me. I’ve always admired Hollywood’s iconic leading men, so to wear the Monaco – a watch made famous by Steve McQueen – is something special. TAG Heuer has been the epitome of elegance and excellence for over 160 years, and it’s thrilling to be their representative for the next generation,” said Elordi.
As the face of the TAG Heuer Monaco, the Aussie actor represents a watch that is iconic and has a history of being a daring piece of horology. Like the square-cased Monaco, Elordi has re-written the rulebook, defied convention making it one of the most iconic timepieces ever.
“We are incredibly excited to announce Jacob Elordi as ambassador for the TAG Heuer Monaco. He is the stand-out star of a new generation, an artist who is unafraid to take risks, taking roles that challenge both himself and the audience. He is also someone who comes fully-formed with his own strong sense of timeless style. The TAG Heuer Monaco became the watch for a new generation when it was first launched in 1969 and there is no better standard-bearer for it as it continues to be discovered anew by each generation since,” says TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault.
A Closer Look At The New TAG Heuer Monaco
This special edition model marks the legendary Monaco Grand Prix and bears the same name as the prestigious F1 race. Dedicated to racing enthusiasts and lovers of bold and innovative watches, this new exclusive chronograph captures the mystique of one of the brand’s most iconic collection with its bold colours and historical inspiration.
The 2022 Monaco edition incorporates contemporary materials and engineering offering its customers the ultimate version of what the original Monaco ‘Dark Lord’ might have been. The watch comes in a 39mm iconic square case structure made from Grade 2 titanium that is coated with DLC (diamond-like carbon). This is the first time that a Monaco chronograph has been crafted out of black-coated titanium. The DLC coating give the timepiece a deep, rich colour that works beautifully against the sandblasted case to give a grained finish.
The dial is home to Monaco signature ‘circle in a square’ geometry featuring a circles at the centre decorated with a satin-brushed circular finish that reflects the speed and smoothness of racing. The outer part of the dial offers a dramatic contrast by being sandblasted to create a grained finish. This reflects the grip of tyres and track. The black opalin chronograph counters provide the perfect background to the deep red chronograph hour and minute hands. Additionally, the dial also uses rose gold and luminous paint for the hands and markers.
The 2022 Monaco Special Edition is powered by the in-house Heuer 02 movement that offers a power reserve of 80 hours and can be viewed via the open caseback. The Monaco is available in a black alligator leather strap and is presented in packaging that evokes the racing heritage of the watch.
The watch will be available at TAG Heuer boutiques and on www.tagheuer.com
