Many watch brands have started releasing timepieces as we get closer to the most significant watch fair of the year – the Watches & Wonders set to take place in Geneva. Panerai joins this category by releasing its second edition of the Radiomir Eilean Experience watch. But something is interesting about this one apart from the usual suspects of different aesthetics and design. This time, Panerai makes its entry into the Web3 by adding exclusive digital components to the release of this unique Experience watch.

What are these digital components?
As the world primarily focuses on the upcoming trends of NFTs and cryptocurrency, Panerai embraces this novel technology with open arms. Limited to 50 pieces, each Radiomir Eliean Experience Edition watch with a collection of exclusive and limited NFTs. What does this mean? Each watch purchase will receive one of the 50 Panerai Genesis NFT in a unique cryptographic wallet, allowing each buyer to own this non-fungible token truly. Within this collectable lies an evolutive, one-of-a-kind artwork produced exclusively for Panerai by an NFT artist. This digital asset will also unlock exclusive content directly related to the Panerai Expedition Edition watches. Each of these NFTs will be time-stamped to specify the uniqueness of each buyer’s experience. Additionally, all owners of the Genesis NFT will have priority access to all future Web3 initiatives taken by Panerai. They will also be getting invites for exclusive services, events and other offerings from the brand.
All the above mentioned digital components have been created via the brand’s collaboration with Arianee – the leading end-to-end Web3 solutions for brands. In partnership with Arianee, Panerai has enabled the watch brand to tokenize, distribute, and leverage value to transform their relationship with their customers on the decentralized internet.
“Technology is the next frontier offering limitless potential, and Panerai is at the leading edge in that arena too. Through the creation of our first NFTs, the brand will use dynamic new measures to respond to our customers and allow them to enhance the ownership of their treasured Panerai watches,” says CEO Jean-Marc Pontroue.
Tell me about the Panerai Radiomir Eilean Experience Watch
Limited to just 50 pieces (compared to the 499 pieces released for the earlier edition), the 2022 Panerai Radiomir Eilean Experience Watch is a more exclusive version of last year’s Radiomir Eilean watch. How exclusive? Anyone who buys the Panerai Radiomir Eilean Experience Watch gets an invitation to go on a journey along the Amalfi Coast aboard the Eilean.
The watch is inspired by a 1936 classic yacht designed by renowned boat builder William Fife’s classic yacht – the Eilean, which Panerai restored to preserve its historic seafaring legacy. Similar to the earlier edition, the 2022 piece comes in a 45mm case made from patina steel with bronze accents salvaged from Eilean during its restoration. The watch design also brings forward the form of the 1930s Radiomir watches with its case structure and design details. The blue vertical satine dial features luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers that offer simple aesthetics and excellent contrast. The watch is available in a dark brown calf leather strap with whip stitching that mimics nautical knots, giving the watch an exclusive look. The watch is powered by Panerai hand-wound mechanical movement P.6000 calibre that clocks in a power reserve of three days.
What makes this watch important?
From the beautifully created timepiece, the trip along the Amalfi Coast and the exclusive digital components that come with owning the watch, this timepiece establishes Panerai’s foray into the world of Web3. With time the brand is set to issue Digital Passports that assures a single identity for each watch. It will help maintain open communication and transparency in a mutation of ownership while also unlocking a range of benefits and services.
