Panerai and Razer Tie Up With Conservation International
Panerai, Razer And Conservation International Join Hands To Support Manta Ray Conservation

This programme is led by Conservation International’s world-renowned coral reef ecologist and marine conservationist Dr. Mark Erdman

Global high-end watch brand Panerai and leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, Razer, have partnered with environmental non-profit organisation Conservation International to support in the research of marine species. This partnership is set to be focused on satellite-tagging manta rays to gather data that’ll help conservation management track the creatures, their behaviours and habitat.

This programme is led by Conservation International’s world-renowned coral reef ecologist and marine conservationist Dr. Mark Erdman. Regarding this initiative, he said, “The data from our ongoing research on manta rays has led to the development of sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities, supported the creation of new protected areas, and informed policy changes that protect these species and their ocean environment. We are excited to extend this program together with Panerai and Razer.”

The commitment between the companies was announced at RazerCon (Razer’s annual digital event to celebrate all thing gaming) last October. The initiative is all set to contribute to the ‘Panerai Ocean Conservation Initiative’ mission that was developed in partnership with IOC-UNESCO in the framework of the ocean literacy programme of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. This is a worldwide education campaign among 100 universities in the world that aims to enlighten students on how a luxury brand, like Panerai, can be a force of good for the planet thanks to its commitment towards sustainability. The initiative also aims to educate thousands of students on the importance of the ocean. “The objective of ocean preservation is an indispensable consideration in all that we do, in the manufacture and beyond. Our partnership with Razer and Conservation International is no exception, and it demonstrates our 360-degree approach to improving the marine environment. The project convincingly shows that safeguarding ocean wildlife isn’t a zero-sum game. Instead, protecting the manta supports a healthy ecosystem, including the people who are part of it,” says Jean Marc Pontroué, CEO at Panerai.

Razer also shares the same passion for sustainability like Panerai. They have launched their ten-year program to protect nature and preserve the environment with the #GoGreenWithRazer campaign back in 2021. The company has led the charge in making sustainability endemic to gamin communities by offering it more ways to be involved in its green causes. “Sustainability has become an important part of everything we do, weaving throughout our entire ecosystem.“ says Patricia Liu, Chief of Staff at Razer. “With the incredible support of our passionate community, we’ve already achieved some great milestones, like saving a million trees in partnership with CI. Now that we have joined forces with Panerai, we are dedicating our efforts towards ocean conservation and are happy to be partnering with CI once again, this time in support of their manta tagging program.”

To solidify the partnership between Panerai and Razer, the Swiss watch brand is set to unveil a limited-edition series of an iconic watch bearing Razer’s signature aesthetics and made with recycled materials.
