As the release of the much-awaited Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness comes closer, there is a lot of interest around the watch that will be worn by Dr Strange himself. Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the lead in the movie, is also a long-time friend of Jaeger-LeCoultre so it should comes as no surprise that there will be a few scenes that will showcase the watch.
According to the brand, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar watch, which was seen in the 2016 Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange movie, makes it to the sequel as well and it will play an intrinsic part in the story of the title character. “An essential reference at several key points during Doctor Strange’s journey into the mystic arts, the watch serves as a tangible reminder of meaningful events from the character’s past and present,” mentions the brand’s official press release.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar features a complication that works in tandem with the theme of the movie. The Perpetual Calendar showcases multiple timelines on the dial and indicates the correct dates over the course of many timelines. Set in a 39mm case structure crafted in either pink gold or steel, the Master Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar embodies a strong presence on the wrist of Dr. Strange. The dial is home to balanced features like a moon-phase display at 12 o’ clock and calendar indications on three sub-dials. The watch is powered by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Calibre 868 completed with fine-watchmaking decoration such as Côte de Genève striping, perlage (circular graining), and polished and bevelled edges. All of these intricate details on the movement can be viewed via the open sapphire caseback.
