Jaeger-LeCoultre’s iconic Master Control collection turns 30 this year. To commemorate this special occasion, Le Grande Maison of Le Sentier has unveiled new interpretations of two models from the collection: the Master Control Date and Master Control Calendar.
The new models are perfect examples of when elegant watchmaking meets high performance.
New models in the Master Control Collection:
Crafted in a 40mm stainless steel case structure, the new models are set with refined deep-blue dials in sunray-finish. Signature features of the Master Control collection like the combination of applied Arabic numerals with faceted dart markers for the hours, faceted dauphine hour and minute hands and bevelled case lugs and a slimmer case bezel are present in the new editions.
When it comes to the legibility and readability of the dial, Jaeger-LeCoultre makes sure that each of these functions are taken care of. How do they do this? By using the minutes scale in a subtle contrasting lighter shade of blue, including distinctive minute divisions alternating between dot markers. All of this is filled with Super-LumiNova for an intuitive and precise indication of the time.
For the Master Control Calendar, the brand has decided to bring back the jumping date indication marked by a slender date hand with a red lacquered tip that extends outwards from the centre of the dial. Additionally, the white-on-blue day and night month indicators of the Master Control Calendar completes the overall look of the watch.
What Lies Within
The two models are powered by in-house movement created by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Master Control Date is powered by the Calibre 899, while the Master Control Calendar houses the Calibre 866 within. Both these movements are automatic and clocks in a power reserve of 70 hours.
Both the Master Control Date and the Master Control Calendar come with matching blue straps in calf leather. These matching straps are fitted with a quick-change mechanism that allows the wearer to easily switch between straps. Each model is limited to 800 pieces.
