Bvlgari’s Record-Setting Saga Continues

Bulgari adds another jewel to its crown of world records with the new and slim Octo Finissimo Ultra and more

Bulgari has been hitting eight world records with its groundbreaking, record-setting Octo Finissimo watches. Launched in 2014, this collection has set every conceivable record for slimness, technical innovation, and design purity. Born to push limits, Bulgari has explored every aspect of ultra-miniaturisation with the Octo Finissimo watches. These ultra-modern watches epitomise the brand’s dedication to slenderness.

It was during Baselworld 2014 that Bulgari introduced the world to its first record-breaking watch — the Octo Finissimo Tourbillion. Since then, the brand has introduced new and improved Octo Finissimo timepieces, each time setting a new world record of thinness, technical innovation, and design aesthetics. The long line of record-breaking watches includes the Octo Finissimo Tourbillion (2014), Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater (2016), Octo Finissimo Automatic (2017), Octo Finissimo Tourbillion Automatic (2018), Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic (2019), Octo Finissimo Tourbillion Chronograph Skeleton Automatic (2020), and the Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar (2021) — each shown below in order from left to right:

For 2022, the saga continues with the launch of the 8th world record: the Octo Finissimo Ultra. Setting the title for the world’s thinnest mechanical watch, the 2022 Octo Finissimo Ultra is 10 per cent thinner than the previous reigning champion. With a case thickness of just 1.80mm, this latest release features the concept of ditching a separate case and machining the base plate into the case back. What makes this watch interesting is the spectacular showcase of innovation and technical superiority on the dial.

The brand also focuses on gold this year (especially at the Geneva Watch Days 2022) for the Octo Finissimo with the launch of several rose gold creations.

These new editions celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Octo collection with many new versions. These include the Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days, the Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic, and other Octo Finissimo Automatic references, along with the Octo Finissimo Sejima Edition created in collaboration with the Japanese star of world architecture.

These new Octo watches are equipped with gold amterials featuring new and improved movements with a design code that plays on the contrast between the material and the transparency of its iconic case.
