Inspired by one Blancpain’s most historical chronographs, Blancpain is all ready to soar high with the addition of new models to its Air Command collection. Now available in new 36.2mm diameter models, the latest models added to the brand’s signature collection symbolises the industry’s direction towards more smaller sizes designed for both men and women.
Endowed with all the makings of a great chronograph, the new Air Command collection symbolises the Blancpain’s longstanding commitment to feminine watches. Since the early 1930s, it has tirelessly developed new movements and introduced innovations on women’s watches. It also holds the special record of being the first watch brand to introduce a flyback chronograph complication for women in 1998.
Set with vintage aesthetics the Air Command reflects the adventurous and sporty spirit of the brand. The layout of the counters and tachymeter scale on the dial, as well as the shape of the luminescent hands and hour-markers, the piston-type chronograph pushers and the glassbox-type sapphire crystal all evoke memories of the original timepiece. Like all authentic vintage aviation watches, the new Air Command models are available in two distinct timing models: a flyback chronograph and a countdown bezel. The blue-coloured dial endowed with a ceramic bezel insert offers a contemporary aesthetic. The dial features sunburst and snailed finishes that alternate with the satin-brushed and polished finish of the case giving the watch a unique look.
Beating inside the new models is Blancpain’s F188B automatic movement that is equipped with a silicon balance-spring that can be viewed via the sapphire crystal on the back. Available in grade 23 titanium – an exceptional quality rarely used in watchmaking – or in red gold, the Blancpain Air Command comes with a blue calf leather strap with white stitching.
