High technology blends seamlessly with refined aesthetics in Breguet’s new collection that was unveiled recently at their manufacturing facility at Vallee de Joux, outside Geneva, as part of the Swatch group’s `Time to Move’ show. Here is the best of what we saw.

Classique 5177 Grand Feu Blue Enamel

This watch is a great example of Breguet’s expertise with enamelled dials. While most of its watches often feature a white or silver guilloché dial, this one comes with an understated and refined blue grand feu enamel. To obtain the deep, intense shade of blue, several layers of enamel are applied, while the numerals and other inscriptions on the dial are silvered to ensure perfect readability. Breguet’s `secret signature’ is etched near the six o’clock position, which is visible only upon close inspection. The slim 38mm white gold case houses the movement 777Q, an automatic calibre that offers 55 hours of power reserve and features silicon components to run more smoothly with less lubrication.

Marine Chronographe 5527

The watchmaker’s Marine collection has been expanded this year with new bracelet options for its three titanium models including this Chronographe 5527. The sunburst slate-grey dial perfectly augments the 42.3mm titanium case. The watch features a 12-hour chronograph with three subdials — running seconds at 9 o’clock, 30-minute register at 3 and 12-hour register at 6 o’clock. The date indication sits between 4 and 5 o’clock. The timepiece is powered by the self-winding Calibre 582QA with a power reserve of 48 hours.

Classique Tourbillon Extraplat Squelette 5395

The slim, skeletonised watch is as much technical as it is artistic with emphasis on craftsmanship with an unobstructed view of the magnificent hand decoration on the self-winding tourbillon. Just 3 mm thick, it is one of the thinnest movements of its kind ever created. The gold plate and bridges have been hollowed out making it extremely lightweight, while still providing 80 hours of reserve power. It sits in a fluted 41mm case, topped with a domed glass-box revealing the movement with applied hour markers in blued gold. The design is rounded off with traditional blued moon-tipped hands and soldered horns in the distinct Breguet style. Water-resistant to 30 metres, the watch is available with a grey movement in a rose gold case, or with a rose movement in a platinum case. Comes with an alligator leather strap with gold folding buckle.

Marine Dame – 9518

Dedicated to modern-day women explorers, the Marine watch collection for women is inspired by the oceans and embodies a desire to travel the seas. Several details on the watch pay tribute to the marine world, including the second hand which is decorated with a maritime flag representing the initial of Breguet. The bezel of the 33.8mm steel case is decorated with 60 brilliant-cut diamonds. The deep blue lacquered dial with light reflections of the watch evokes the depths of the ocean and has the date window at 3 o’clock. The timepiece is powered by self-winding 591A calibre, a manufacture movement 3.41 millimetres thick with a date display. The Marine Dame watch is available with either alligator leather or rubber strap. The white rubber strap features a motif depicting seagrass arabesques which are found on the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea.

Reine De Naples 8967

This updated version of the Reine de Naples features a slightly elongated oval shape that is typical of the collection. The highlight of the watch is its dial that wears an attractive deep-blue lacquer finish with turquoise blue scrolls which is reminiscent of a starry sky. The hours’ chapter is off-centred at 6 o’clock and mimics the oval shape of the case. The big-sized Breguet Arabic numerals 6 and 12 are painted in white relief, while the watchmaker’s signature is engraved between 9 and 12 o’clock along with the timepiece’s individual number. The 43mm steel case houses the 591C calibre that offers a power reserve of 38 hours and can be viewed from the transparent sapphire caseback.

Classique 9068 Mother-Of-Pearl

Presented for the first time with a natural mother-of-pearl dial, this watch comes in an 18K carat rose gold case with ruby cabochon on the crown, or 18K white gold with blue sapphire cabochon on the crown. The 33.5mm case is decorated with 88 brilliant-cut diamonds set on the bezel and lugs. The slender, open-tipped hands are in blued or rose gold. The watch is powered by a self-winding mechanical movement, the 591A, decorated by Breguet artisans. Power reserve of 38 hours.
