Despite boasting a star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif, it appears that Thugs of Hindostan has failed to make an impact at the box office. The film, which released on November 8, is produced by Yash Raj Films.
While comparatively smaller releases like Badhaai Ho have enjoyed massive success in the theatres and have been praised by critics, Thugs was panned by viewers and film reviewers alike.
According to Bollywood Hungama, managed to take home only Rs 1.75 crore on its 10th day – the total collection as of now stands at Rs 143.40 crore which is abysmal with a film of this kind.
The film seems to have failed even in the international market with trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeting that it was “underperformer in international markets”.
With the audience clearly demanding better content instead of mindless masala entertainers, is it time for Bollywood to introspect and hire better writers?
