2022 is going to be a big year for Victorinox. The Swiss brand has just announced an exciting change in its watch category. From new product launches to a uniform marketing strategy, Victorinox is all set to create an impression this year.
According to the brand’s press release, by 2025, Victorinox is planning to reveal seven exciting new watch collections that embody its brand values and encompass design elements inspired by Swiss nature. This change also aims to bring forward the industrial roots of the Victorinox brand.
As a part of its new branding strategy, the launch of the Journey 1884 and all successive watch collections will sell under the brand name “Victorinox” rather than “Victorinox Swiss Army”. This helps bring all product categories together under one shade. This journey begins with the first look at the new Journey 1884 collection. It will carry the Victorinox logo on the product and in all marketing communication.
About The Journey 1884 Collection:
Marking the first leg of a new journey for Victorinox watches, the Journey 1884 is determined to create a statement of change and freedom for the brand and for every watch lover in the world. The watch is a reliable piece of horology because adventure is the inspiration behind the Victorinox Journey 1884.
Dedicated primarily to hiking adventurers, the watch features a hand design replicating the Swiss hiking signs, a dial housing the rough texture of a natural hiking path and a practical and sporty rubber strap. Other adventure-filled inspiration includes the presence of a Swiss Army Knife (a standard item on hikes) sitting as a counterweight of the seconds hand. The industrial roots of the brand are reflected in the solid shapes and curves of the case, the engraved material code and the founding year 1884 proudly presented on the bezel.
The Victorinox Journey 1884 is available in two versions; an automatic and quartz. The automatic version features the colour yellow as seen on Swiss hiking signs and a rough-textured centre part of the dial that pays homage to the collection’s hiking roots.
Other technical details include a 43mm recycled stainless steel case with Black PVD available for selected models. The case structure offers a water resistance of 200m. It also houses a unidirectional rotating bezel with inlay in aluminium on quartz models and ceramic on automatic models. The quartz version is powered by the Ronda 715 Swiss-made quartz movement with battery end-of-life indication. At the same time, the automatic models feature the Selitta SW200-1 Swiss-made automatic movement with a power reserve of 38 hours.
Available in a wide selection of straps, the Victorinox Journey can be purchased in speciality shops, in Victorinox stores and online.
