This Speedrunner Just Finished Elden Ring In Under An Hour!

Before this record was set, the average speedrun time stood at 2.5 hours

FromSoftware’s Elden Ring was launched in late February, after a long wait. The open-world action RPG has been touted as “one of the best games ever made” by fans and critics alike.

Apart from the signature “Soulsborne” combat style, Elden Ring also featured a massive open-world map. Most of which is still getting discovered by the community. However, speedrunners have already started to comb through the gameplay to find the fastest way to complete the game.

While a couple of weeks ago, the average speed run time stood at 2.5 hours (if you only followed the main quest), today a YouTube channel by the name of LilAggy has finished the main quest of Elden Ring in a record 59 minutes and 38 seconds!

For reference, the main quest is rumoured to be around 50 hours long for average players, before they see the end credits. If you count the hidden dungeons and umpteen amount of NPC quests, many players have reportedly poured in over 100 hours and are still finding new things everyday.

The speedrunning community has so embraced the challenge of FromSoftware’s new game. We have no doubt, going ahead, LilAggy’s record will be beaten with even more impressive timings.

Elden Ring is helmed by the legendary Hidetaka Miyazaki, who’s also responsible for giving us Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls 1 & 3, Bloodborne and Sekiro. Miyazaki collaborated with A Song of Ice and Fire writer, George R. R. Martin, to create the ‘Lands Between,’ where we take on the role of Tarnished, who’s tasked with seeking and restoring the shards of the Elden Ring, to ultimately become the Elden Lord.

We’ve tried our hands on Elden Ring and will be sharing our thoughts in the upcoming days. Until then, ye Tarnished, we recommend you “git gud”
