As the Grand Slam season takes off with the Australian Open, we are on the lookout to catch as many watches as possible. We are starting with former American tennis player Jim Courier wearing an aluminium bezel Rolex GMT-Master Pepsi on his wrist for the event’s grand opening.

The 2022 Australian Open is a Grand Slam tournament taking place at Melbourne Park from January 17th-30th, 2022. It also marks the 110th edition of the Australian Open and the 54th in the Open Era.

Who is Jim Courier?

James Spencer Courier is a former World No.1 tennis player who has won four major single titles. This includes two each at the French and Australian Open. He was also the youngest player to reach the finals of all four Grand Slam singles; a feat he managed at 22. The former player has been working as a tennis commentator and an analyst for the Tennis Channel.

Which watch was he wearing?

The former tennis player was spotted sporting the iconic Rolex GMT-Master Pepsi during the opening ceremony of the 2022 Australian Open. The Rolex GMT-Master Pepsi is one of the most iconic watches from the brand.

It is designed to showcase two different timezones simultaneously. Initially launched in 1945, the watch was developed for navigating instruments and for travellers. The Pepsi version of the GMT-Master is also easily recognisable and attracts a broader audience of world travellers and watch collectors.
