Saint Laurent returns to the Paris Fashion Week Schedule to showcase its Spring/Summer 2021 collection.
The Kering-owned brand had declared that it would drop out of Paris Fashion Week due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The label became the first major brand to leave organised fashion weeks following the onset of the pandemic. “Saint Laurent will take ownership of its calendar and launch its collections following a plan conceived with an up-to-date perspective, driven by creativity,” the brand said in a statement in April 2020.
The fashion house’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello previously shared that the decision was made to escape from the traditional schedule. “Slowing down and living the moment reveals all the vulnerabilities of an imprisoned organization. What is out of fashion now is the schedule of the entire system: the shows, the showrooms, the orders,” he commented in a conversation with WWD.
Brands including Kering-owned Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga, along with LVMH’s Celine, followed Saint Laurent’s followed in experimenting with showing their collections outside traditional fashion weeks.
With the industry back to showing physical presentations, Saint Laurent will be joining the fashion calendar again alongside returnees such as Balenciaga, Loewe and Maison Margiela, as listed in the official PFW schedule published by the French Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.
Saint Laurent’s SS22 presentation is slated to take place on September 28.
