Designer Rohit Kamra Brings A Taste Of Jaipur To Mumbai

Since his debut in 2007, the designer has redefined the Jodhpuri bandhgalas and breeches

Menswear fashion designer, Rohit Kamra has launched his niche store at Colaba in Mumbai. Continuing his commitment to exploring classic tailoring and signature silhouettes that epitomise Indian royalty and glamour, Kamra hopes to bring a piece of Jaipur (his home state) to the maximum city.

Since his debut in 2007, the designer has redefined the Jodhpuri bandhgalas and breeches – his recent showcase, ‘The Modern Maharaja’ was ceremonial and inspired by the Tudor Era. The Mumbai store offers bespoke services with a range of shirts, half jackets, breeches, bandhgalas – all with a touch of detailing that makes the garment stand out from the vast sea of uniformly dressed men.

“I have always created trends that bring out the essence of the pink city Jaipur and inject new creative energy into timeless classics. With the new niche studio, I really look forward to designing for the men of the city, many of who come to our store in Jaipur for bespoke fittings. The idea is to push the envelope on menswear and present coveted embroideries, sculpted cuts in silhouettes, the techniques of ombres, lehariya, marble print and much more in a very masculine way. Every man can get a piece of the Maharaja life,” says Kamra.

The store is located near the Taj Mahal Hotel. As for the décor – it offers a mélange of easy luxury and the interiors have been done in reclaimed timber. Shopping for the wedding season just got a hell of a lot easier with Kamra’s flagship store.
