As the biggest watch fair returns in a bigger and better format, so do most of the watch brands showcasing their pieces at the 2022 Watches & Wonders. Hublot takes on a new form with its new watch shape with the Square Bang Unico and pioneers the creation of the world’s first Purple Sapphire for its Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Purple Sapphire. Plus there is a lot more.
Square Bang Unico
Moving away from its conventional shaped timepieces, Hublot introduces a new watch shape – the Square Bang Unico. This timepiece is the Swiss watch brand’s own interpretation of the square watch. Inspired by the iconic Big Bang, this new timepiece adds a new pillar, ‘The Shaped Collection’ to sit alongside the Spirit of Big Bang.
The collection is available in six references which includes a titanium ceramic, titanium, King Gold ceramic, a King Gold version along with a 250-piece limited edition All Black version. The 42mm modular case structure has been created in line with Hublot’s DNA and offers optimum comfort on the wrist. The sandwich construction of the dial gives the watch different levels of depth and the six (functional) screws on the bezel adds more definition to the watch. As is customary at Hublot, the finishing is uncompromising and has a very modern feel: polished and sandblasted screws, over-moulded rubber crown, push-pieces decorated with rubber ‘chocolate squares’, polished satin bottom and rhodium-plated or 5N gold-plated hands, depending on the model.
The new square timepieces are powered by the HUB1280 Unico Manufacture movement, a 354-component automatic chronograph, set at 4 Hz (28,800 vib/h). Each of the models are available in textured black rubber straps.
Big Bang Integral Ceramic
“Monobloc, monomaterial, monochrome” That is how Hublot describes its four new shades added to the Big Bang Integral collection. What makes it Integral? From it’s monobloc architecture with the integrated bracelet to the use of just one material ceramic and the four monochrome colourways of indigo blue, sky blue, sand beige and jungle green.
The four models are available in 42mm polished ceramic case in the corresponding colours that are beautiful and immensely attractive. Thanks to its innovation, Hublot has pushed the boundaries of ceramic, by increasing the hardness and scratch resistance of this material and enhancing the intensity of its colour while retaining its lightness, making it a delight to wear, thanks to its low thermal conductivity and its hypoallergenic quality. Each of the pieces are available in a limited edition of 250 units and represent the elements of water, earth and wood. The Big Bang Integral Ceramic is powered by the HUB1280 calibre that offers a power reserve of 72 hours.
Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Purple Sapphire
“Continuity, perseverance. Innovation is not about launching isolated products, but rather being able to sustain a range over the long term with a consistent level of quality, while continuing to explore new frontiers.” Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot sticks to his words by introducing the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Purple Sapphire. After the immense success of the Orange and Transparent Sapphire versions, Hublot continues on its journey of innovation and consistence with the launch of the Purple Sapphire – a world first.
Each new colour is the result of a very subtle alchemy in order to combine a powerful, expressive and precise shade, which is at the same time translucent and perfectly homogeneous within the mass of a highly complex case. The new purple tint is a composite made of Al₂O₃ (aluminium oxyde) and chrome which reveals the inner workings of the watch.
The Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Purple Sapphire comes in a 44mm polished purple sapphire case set with a translucent bezel complemented by six H-shaped titanium screws that are iconic to the Big Bang design. Inside the watch, we have the HUB6035 automatic movement with a power reserve of 72 hours with a tourbillon cage located at 6 o’ clock. The visibility of the open dial is enhanced by hands and hour markers highlighted by a luminescent coating. Limited to just 50 pieces, the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Purple Sapphire is available in a transparent purple rubber strap.
Classic Fusion Orlinski Bracelet
We are all aware of the incredible timepieces created by Hublot in partnership with Richard Orslinski. This year, the collection is all set to transform itself by unveiling a series of watches adorned with a new metallic bracelet using the facets of the French artist’s famous sculptures.
This new phase of their partnership begins with four versions of the Classic Fusion Orlinski Bracelet fitted with a new integrated metallic bracelet decorated with bevelled edges and facets. This new bracelet is attached to a 40mm titanium case set with two dial options of white and black ceramic. Like a jewelled piece of art, a partially pave set version of the Classic Fusion Orlinski Bracelet watch is also available, adorned by its new matching bracelet. The new models are powered by the HUB1100 movement with a power reserve of 42 hours.
