Rahul Dev’s had an interesting year on the work front with movie releases like RAM and Maujaan hi Maujaan. But he hasn’t let that come in the way of a holistic morning routine. In a fun chat, the actor tells us how a day in his life is never complete without guided meditations and homemade detox drinks. Could that be the secret behind his enviable physique despite being 55? We find out.
Excerpts:
How do you start your mornings?
Rahul Dev: My mornings usually start with a glass of lukewarm water, pink salt, and a dash of lemon. There’s some chanting and meditative activity as guided by my Master Tarneiv Ji, followed by a cold-water shower and a shot of double espresso.
What’s sitting on your bathroom shelf?
RD: It’s sparse. A bottle of Hermès cologne, mouthwash, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo, a conditioner, skin essentials by L’Occitane, and a trimmer.
Go-to grooming products
RD: L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil.
Day and night fragrances
RD: Terre d’Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver EDP.
How do you like your coffee?
RD: A straight-up dark roast double espresso (no sugar).
What does breakfast look like?
RD: I usually eat two meals a day. My diet is heavy on fats—five full eggs, nuts, and two glasses of a homemade smoothie, which is made using cacao, dates, papaya, and avocado.
What’s your workout like?
RD: I like staying active throughout the day and mostly rely on body weight exercises with tiny intervals. Varying grip pull-ups are my favourite, followed by monkey bars, squats, deadlifts, and press movements for the chest and shoulders. I usually do push-ups with varying grips thrice a week and do very little cardio. I walk for 40 min thrice a week and avoid running because I tend to lose much weight due to a high metabolism.
News portals that you check out in the morning?
RD: Twitter handles that follow me (most of the news portals follow my handle).
What are you currently reading?
RD: The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle.
Grooming essentials you swear by
RD: Colognes, mouth wash and a great skin oil.
