Gucci has announced its upcoming collection, Ouverture of Something that Never Ended. Creative Director Alessandro Michele will showcase the collection through seven-episode mini-series during Gucci Fest. The first innovative fashion and film festival is set to be held from November 16 to November 23.
Shot in Rome and co-directed by filmmaker Gus Van Sant and Alessandro Michele, the seven-part film series stars the actress, artist and performer Silvia Calderoni in a surreal daily routine in the city, encountering a series of international talents and Friends of the House, including: Paul B. Preciado, Achille Bonito Oliva, Billie Eilish, Darius Khonsary, Lu Han, Jeremy O. Harris, Ariana Papademetropoulos, Arlo Parks, Harry Styles, Sasha Waltz and Florence Welch.
GucciFest will also screen short fashion films from 15 emerging independent designers, who were picked by Michele for their perspectives. The creatives include Ahluwalia, Shanel Campbell, Stefan Cooke, Cormio, Charles De Vilmorin, JordanLuca, Mowalola, Yueqi Qi, Rave Review, Gui Rosa, Rui, Bianca Saunders, Collina Strada, Boramy Viguier, and Gareth Wrighton.
The fest will be released daily through the course of the festival as an exclusive broadcast on YouTube Fashion, Weibo, Gucci YouTube and will be embedded on the dedicated site GucciFest.com, gradually revealing the new collection day by day.
This is not the first digital presentation from the Maison that was notably absent from Milan Fashion Week in September. Michele, who said he would be presenting two seasonless and genderless shows a year, revealed the “Epilogue” collection in July. The final chapter of his “trilogy of love” was a 12-hour-long live stream, which featured a behind-the-scenes summary of the collection.
