Kohli’s RCB thrashed Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a commendable margin of 10 wickets. While Padikkal’s century was the highlight of the match, Kohli also stole some spotlight as he scored 72 runs off 47 balls, which was also his first half-century in this year’s IPL.
Kohli is the first one to reach this feat of 6,000 career runs. Behind him on the list is Chennai Super King’s Suresh Raina, who is currently trailing at 5,428 runs. Shikhar Dhawan from the Delhi Capitals is at 5,384 runs, holding the third position on the list.
Kohli has played all of his 196 matches in IPL for a single franchise only. Similarly, MS Dhoni is first on this list as he had played a total of 208 IPL matches for CSK only.
After this feat, Raina was the first one to congratulate Kohli as he tweeted, “This is HUGE, meet the first ever player to reach 6000 runs in IPL.”
He also added, “It was a delight to watch, more power to you.”
Kohli and Raina will go head to head in their next match as RCB takes on CSK on Sunday at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. It will be a top of the table clash for both the teams.
Meanwhile, RCB is leading the points table winning all the four matches it has played so far and CSK at second position on the table with only one loss against their name. Similarly, Delhi Capitals are also at same points as CSK, and are third on the league table.
