When a footwear brand decides to collaborate with a footballer, the result is almost always a new pair of football cleats. But Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr puts his spin on Nike’s lifestyle shoes without just limiting himself to cleats. Last year, we saw the football superstar’s version of the Nike Shox R4. In 2020, he takes on the Nike Air Max 2090.

Junior will release two new colourways — black/red and tan/pink — with both the shoes having sporting inscriptions that pay homage to some of his most personal and special moments of his childhood. The right lateral walls sport “Sao Vincente” and “Praia Grande” which point to his adopted home. The medial sides spell out “Jardim Gloria” which pays ode to his football institute in Brazil and “Nautica III,” which represents his childhood neighborhood.

According to Sneaker News, the shoes will arrive at select Asia retailers on June 2nd, followed by a larger online release on Nike’s website.
