As Liverpool is all set to play their last match of the season—the Champions League Final against Real Madrid —all eyes are on Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The players will enter the last year of their contracts, and it makes no sense for Liverpool to release them as free agents.

Mane and Salah have been a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s high-flying Liverpool side, and thus losing both of them in quick succession will cause irreparable damage to their frontline.
Salah has already stalled the contract extension agreement over a wage dispute. Having scored the most number of the goals for the Merseyside for each of the last three seasons, the Egyptian forward feels he now deserves better pay. The club, however, has been quite reluctant to agree to his £400,000-a-week demand.
With Real Madrid losing out on both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, it was assumed that they will leave no stones unturned to bring in Salah at Santiago Bernabeu.
Everyone was expecting Liverpool to go easy on Mo Salah and extend Sadio Mane’s contract. However, the recent statements from both players have baffled everyone, as they are completely unexpected.
In the pre-match post-conference, Salah stated that he is going to stay at the Merseyside club for another year. “I am just focused on the team and don’t want to talk about my contract,” he said. “But I am staying next season for sure, that’s for sure. In my mind, I don’t focus about the contract at the moment. I don’t want to be selfish.”
“I said two months ago, it’s all about the team now. It’s a really important week for us, so I am just focused on the team. I want to win the Champions League again.”
Mane, meanwhile, said that he will wait for the Champions League final before announcing anything. He has been linked to Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich in the past. Of late, he has also come under the radar of PSG.
“This question [about my future] I will answer after Champions League. If I’m staying or not, I’m going to answer after Champions League.”
