Winning the toss, MI decided to bat first. Rohit Sharma got to a good start, scoring 44 runs off just 30 balls. With him, Suryakumar Yadav also scored a brilliant 24 runs off 15 balls. But after then, there was a collapse in the batting order, and the scoring rate of MI was halted by the DC bowlers.

 

Ishan Kishan and Jayant Yadav tried to keep MI in the hunt by playing a slow paced game for their team, and were able to manage a fighting total of 137 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

 

Amit Mishra was the star bowler from DC, picking up four wickets for 24 runs. Avesh Khan grabbed a couple while Stoinis, Rabada and Yadav; all chipped in with a wicket each keeping MI in a check.

 

Chasing a low score, Prithvi Shaw departed early scoring only seven runs. Thereafter, Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith stitched a very good partnership. Smith was looking to anchor the innings but got out to Pollard. Dhawan carried on his good form and scored a brilliant 45 runs. Yadav, Bumrah, Chahar, and Pollard, all took a wicket each.

 

After this match, DC replaced CSK for the second spot on the league table. Meanwhile, MI is on the fourth spot on the table. Dhawan is now the holding the Orange cap in the tournament as the leading run scorer. Rishabh Pant seemed very happy with his team’s performance.
