India is going to face New Zealand in the final of the inaugural World Test Championship starting on June 18, 2021. India have just released their jersey for this special occasion. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja tweeted his picture wearing the new sweater that the players will wear in the cold conditions of England. The sweater has a blue V-neck border, which used to be a regular feature in Test cricket of till the 90s. Along with Jadeja, another Indian test player, Cheteshwar Pujara, posted a picture wearing the jersey of the Indian team. The jersey has a big logo of the ICC World Test championship final 2021 and can prove to be a historic one in the years and decades to come.
One particular change that we have noticed from the last test jersey that the Indian cricket team wore against England in India in the month of February, is that there is no jersey sponsor. Earlier there used to be a jersey sponsor, whose brand name used to be mentioned below the country name.
On the other hand, we haven’t received any official news of the new kit from the opposition, New Zealand. They will be playing a two-match test series starting June 2, 2021 which may give us a glimpse if there are any changes from before or if they are donning the same kit.
Such small things like retro sweaters, caps, jumpers and jerseys reveal help to keep the fans in loop and they feel engaged with the team. These small things are the reason as to why India has a massive support in any stadium or city they play in.
We will first get to see the glimpses of this historic jersey on the first day of the World Test Championship final itself when the whole team would be wearing it.
