Barcelona star Gerard Pique and pop sensation Shakira are reportedly on the verge of splitting up after the former was caught cheating. Pique has already moved out of Shakira’s house.

As per El Periodico, the Spanish defender has been frequenting nightclubs with his Barcelona colleague Riqui Puig and others and is often spotted with other women.

While neither party has said anything about the development, El Periodico journalist Emilio Pérez de Rozas has confirmed that there’s nothing left between them.

“(Shakira) has made the decision to separate. That is so. It has happened. That is why there is distance. Perhaps there is nothing left, but that (infidelity) has passed,” Emilio said.

The lyrics of Shakira’s latest single, Te Felicito, also hint at the alleged disharmony between them. Moreover, neither of them has posted any pictures together in the last few months. 

The duo met on the set of “Waka Waka,” the official music video for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, written and performed by the Colombian pop star. They started dating a year later, and have two children together, but are yet to get married. 

Last year, when Garry Neville asked Pique about his marriage plans, he replied: “I like it how we are right now. We have two kids, nine and seven, we work good as a couple. We don’t have the need to be married, it’s fine,” added Pique.”

Shakira too echoed similar sentiments: “We already have what’s essential, you know? We have a union, a love for each other, a baby. I think that those aspects of our relationship are already established, and marriage is not going to change them.

Pique, 35, has entered the dusk of his career. Even though he made 41 appearances this season, Barcelona is planning to revamp their backline, and this would significantly reduce his game time. 

Shakira, meanwhile, is already working on her new album, and is also a judge on the show Dancing with Myself, along with Nick Jonas and Liza Koshy.
