Doctors, comedians, authors, ministers, photographers, senior journalists, professors, film directors are just few of the many individuals whose names the #MeToo movement has dug up.
One could say that Tanushree Dutta really brought back the #MeToo movement in India after she revealed her ordeal with senior Bollywood actor Nana Patekar, and also when allegations on Comedian Utsav Chakraborty surfaced. Since then, the movement has gained massive momentum and women are not afraid to reveal the kind of abuse they went through and the names of the abuser anymore.
Women all over India have been sharing their terrifying experiences, but what’s scarier than the incident itself, is what kind relationship the abuser shared with the survivor. Some were trusted close friends, some were boyfriends, some were husbands and some were even fathers.
But these aren’t just words on a post, the allegations have forced big and successful companies to rethink their continuation with the individuals that have been named in the movement.
Rants and the intense displeasure by supporters of the people that have been named are all over the internet, but that definitely has not affected the pace of the movement and has in fact only encouraged more women to come forward.
New names have been erupting almost every hour but here are the names that we are most familiar with:
