After an underwhelming tenth season, our favourite thing from across the border looks set to shakeup things for its eleventh. The first episode of the Pakistani television music series Coke Studio premiers on August 10 while the number of episodes is yet to be announced.
The show revealed its list of artists for the upcoming season, performing the popular Faiz Ahmed Faiz nazm Hum Dekhenge. Originally recorded by Iqbal Bano, the promo manifests the nation’s political situation in the midst of ongoing general elections.
But before we speak about the new set of artists, big news comes in from behind the stage. Pakistani rock band Strings has stepped down as producers after four seasons in the role. They have been replaced by musician duo Ali Hamza and Zohaib Kazi this year.
As for the performers, a total of thirty-nine artists including eight bands, five duos and twenty-six solo artists have been listed on the show’s website. Better late than sorry, the show has also included a transgender duo in Lucky and Naghma, offering the LGBTQ community better representation for a change.
Other performers range from the veteran Abida Parveen to global heartthrob Momina Mustehasan. Check out the full list of artists below.
